Crochet Easter Basket Bluey and Bingo

Many communities will host Easter egg hunts for children.

At these events, children bring their empty baskets, and look for treats hidden by the event organizers.

Candy and other treats are often hidden inside hollow plastic eggs.

Traditional treats for an Easter basket include Easter Eggs, jelly beans and chocolates.

Easter Eggs are traditionally hard-boiled eggs that have been dyed various colors.

The chocolates are often made into shapes of eggs and bunnies.

Attaching Face

You can choose to crochet each piece or add a felt face like I did.

You will find the crochet blog for the pieces HERE.

If you would like to add the felt face with hot glue click HERE.

Make and Add Handle

Start by laying your plastic canvas flat and cut two stripes that are 2 inches wide and 18 inches long.

Lay the two pieces on top of each over leaving 4 inches on each side that is not overlapped.

Then chain 8, single crochet in the second chain from the hook, single crochet 7 across.

Chain 1, turn your work and do 7 single crochet across for a total of 67 rows.

Check the size of your crochet to your plastic canvas as you go.

Then, single crochet around and fasten off leaving a long tail.

Make another crochet piece for the handle that is identical.

Next, lay the first crochet piece with the outside facing down, then lay the plastic canvas, and then lay the other crochet piece over top with the outside facing up. Using your yarn needle complete a whipstitch to the back stitch of the top piece and the back stitch of the bottom piece.

Place your handle in the middle of the basket and weave yarn throughout to secure the handle to the basket.
